Areas and Capacity Management

Last updated: July 01, 2026

Areas represent physical zones in your branch with configurable maximum capacity. ASH-Booking supports the multi-vertical model to manage different types of services and resources.

What is an Area

An area is a specific zone in the branch dedicated to a type of service:

Examples:

  • Restaurant: Main Hall, Terrace, Private Room
  • Hairdresser: Cutting Room, Color Room, Treatment Room
  • Hotel: Standard Rooms, Suites, Wellness Area
  • Pool: Olympic Pool, Baby Pool, Beach Volleyball Court

Configure an Area

  1. Go to Branches → [Branch Name] → Areas
  2. Click Add Area
  3. Fill in:
    • Area name
    • Description (optional)
    • Maximum capacity — number of people or seats
    • Constraint (optional) — access rules
  4. Save

Tip: If your business has only one space, you can create a single area called "Venue" and skip area complexity.

Time Slots per Area

Each area can have its own service time slots:

  1. Go to Time Slots
  2. Configure:
    • 30-minute slots (e.g., 09:00, 09:30, 10:00)
    • Custom slots (e.g., Lunch, Dinner; Morning, Afternoon)
  3. Assign slots to the correct area

Multi-Vertical Capacity

ASH-Booking supports two capacity management models:

Fixed Slots Model (Restaurants)

  • Capacity based on fixed seats
  • Each time slot has a maximum number of bookings
  • Useful for rooms with limited seating

Agenda Model (Appointment Services)

  • Capacity based on resources (operators, stations)
  • Each resource can handle one service at a time
  • Useful for hairdressers, beauticians, consultants

Capacity Overrides

For temporary exceptions, you can overwrite an area's capacity for a specific day:

  1. Go to Manage Capacity
  2. Select:
    • Area
    • Specific date
    • New capacity (different from normal)
  3. Save

Override examples:

  • Christmas: Room reduced to 20 seats instead of 40
  • Special event: Terrace at 100 seats instead of 60
  • Maintenance: Room closed (capacity 0) for a day

Note: Overrides are daily. For recurring exceptions, configure schedule exceptions in chapter 04.

Resources and Operators

In the Agenda model, each area can have dedicated resources:

  1. Go to Resources (in branch section)
  2. Add resources:
    • Name (e.g., "Operator 1", "Station A", "Massage Room")
    • Resource type
    • Unit capacity (how many resources needed for a service)
    • Area归属 (membership)
    • Availability times (if different from branch)

Assign Resources to Areas

Each resource belongs to one or more areas. When a customer books a service, the system:

  1. Finds an area with available capacity
  2. Finds a free resource in that area
  3. Automatically assigns the resource

Daily Resource Overrides

For absences or sudden changes:

  1. Go to Resources
  2. Select the resource
  3. Set availability status for each day:
    • Active — normally available
    • On vacation/closed — not available
  4. Save
